Wi-Fi & Internet · Internet costs

Guide checked November 1, 2026 · Offers and availability vary; confirm current terms before buying.

What should home internet cost?

There is no single fair price for every home. BroadbandNow’s March 2026 analysis of advertised internet-only residential plans found a national average monthly plan cost of $81.16. That is a plan-price average, not a quote for your address or a measure of every household’s final bill.

Mark’s shopping starting point: Compare options around $40–$80 a month for internet service where local competition allows. Lower promotional or assistance rates may be available. A bill above that range is a reason to review the details—not proof you are being overcharged.

A real advertised example

Spectrum’s public page lists first-year internet-only offers of $30/month for 100 Mbps, $40 for 500 Mbps, and $60 for 1 Gig. Its Advanced WiFi is an extra $10/month on the 100 and 500 plans and included on 1 Gig.

These are advertised offers checked on the date above. Eligibility, address, equipment, and the price after year one must be confirmed. Existing customers may see different terms.

Compare the whole bill

  • What will it cost after the introductory offer?
  • Are router rental, installation, taxes, or other charges extra?
  • Does the price require automatic payments or mobile service?
  • Is there a data limit, contract, or cancellation fee?
  • Do you qualify for an income-based plan? Being a senior alone does not guarantee a discount.

Ask for the provider’s Broadband Facts label: it puts price, typical speeds, data allowances, and other plan details together. Compare internet separately from TV and phone charges.

In Murrieta and Temecula, compare providers that actually serve your street. For example, Frontier’s Fiber 500 page describes equal download/upload speeds up to 500 Mbps; pricing requires an address check. An advertised offer nearby may not be available at your home.
