Which one fits you?
Choose a model below to see its strengths and tradeoffs.
iPhone 17eFrom $699 · Lower-cost everyday use
Main features: A19 chip, 48MP main camera, and MagSafe magnetic charging. Starts with 256 GB storage.
Who it suits: A good starting point for calls, messages, browsing, and family photos when keeping the price down matters.
Keep in mind: One rear camera limits flexibility compared with models that add an ultra-wide or dedicated zoom camera. Try the screen size before choosing.
Apple’s model details ↗iPhone 16From $799 · A familiar size with two rear cameras
Main features: A18 chip with main and ultra-wide cameras. The ultra-wide fits more of a room or group into the picture.
Who it suits: Worth comparing if you want the additional camera view in a smaller-size phone.
Keep in mind: It is an older generation but still sold new by Apple. Compare its selected storage and final price against the newer 17e and 17.
Apple’s model details ↗iPhone 17From $899 · A balanced everyday choice
Main features: A19 chip, 48MP main and ultra-wide cameras, and a display with ProMotion for smoother scrolling.
Who it suits: A strong starting point if you want more camera flexibility and screen features without paying for a Pro model.
Keep in mind: It costs more than the 17e. Decide whether the extra camera and smoother screen are features you will notice.
Apple’s model details ↗iPhone AirFrom $1,099 · A larger screen in a thin, light phone
Main features: A19 Pro chip and a thin design weighing about 165 grams, with a 48MP main camera.
Who it suits: Consider it if you want a larger display but find heavier phones tiring to hold.
Keep in mind: Its single rear camera is less versatile than the Pro camera system. Thinness is the main reason to compare it, not a promise of the most features.
Apple’s model details ↗iPhone 18 ProFrom $1,199 · Advanced photography in a smaller Pro size
Main features: A20 Pro chip and a three-camera system with a main camera that has an adjustable aperture and a dedicated telephoto camera.
Who it suits: Best considered by people who enjoy photography, video, or demanding apps and will use the extra controls.
Keep in mind: Aperture changes how much light reaches the camera; telephoto helps bring distant subjects closer. Many everyday users do not need to pay extra for these tools.
Apple’s model details ↗iPhone 18 Pro MaxFrom $1,299 · The largest conventional iPhone screen
Main features: The Pro camera and A20 Pro features in the larger model. Apple lists longer video playback than the smaller 18 Pro.
Who it suits: Consider it for more viewing space and battery capacity if you are comfortable carrying a larger phone.
Keep in mind: Try it with a case before buying. A large display can help with reading, but a larger phone may be harder to grip or fit in a pocket.
Apple’s model details ↗iPhone DuoFrom $1,999 · A phone that opens into a larger workspace
Main features: Apple’s folding iPhone has an outer screen for use while closed and a larger screen inside. It unlocks with Touch ID in the side button.
Who it suits: A specialist option for people who want more reading or multitasking space in a folding design.
Keep in mind: It is the highest-priced starting option here. Try opening, closing, and holding it. Its dual-camera system differs from the Pro cameras; folding does not mean it has every Pro feature.
Apple’s model details ↗Mark’s practical starting points: Compare the 17e for a lower price, the 17 for a balanced everyday phone, and the Air for a light phone with a larger display. Choose Pro for camera needs you will use; try Pro Max or Duo in person if grip and weight matter. These are guidance, not a guarantee that one model fits everyone.
What about iPhone 17 Pro, older Plus models, or refurbished iPhones?
Apple’s comparison tool includes older phones even when its main new-phone store no longer sells them. They may still be offered by authorized retailers or through refurbished and secondhand sellers.
Those are separate choices from the seven new models above. Check the exact seller, battery condition, warranty, account lock, carrier compatibility, and current price.
Check Apple Certified Refurbished availability ↗Make any iPhone easier to use
Before upgrading, try larger text, Display Zoom, voice typing, and a comfortable case or grip. Ask Mark to show you these settings. A bigger screen is not the only way to improve readability.
Check your carrier and SIM requirements, the storage you need for photos, and whether your charger or other accessories will work with the new phone.
